Let me start this off with a (lame) joke.
A Caucasian, an Indian and a Chinaman were hired by a shipping company. the Caucasian was hired as a manager, the Indian as an accountant, and the Chinese was in charge of supplies. A week into the job, the Caucasian decided to check in with the other two men. He visited the accounting department and found everything to be in order. Next, he went to the supplies department. But try as he may, he just could not find the Chinese. After looking for hours, the manager took a breather and leaned against some crates. All of a sudden, the Chinese jumped out from behind the crates and yelled, "SUPPLIES!!!"
-.-
For all of you who didn't know, I came back to Sydney a couple of days early so that I can surprise the boyfriend. Result? FAIL!!!
EPIC FAIL.
He was supposed to meet up with Jen to watch a movie tonight. Unbeknowest to him, Jen and I had planned it such that I would meet him at the cinemas instead! Surprise surprise, everyone's happy.
It's not so simple. Sean then got invited to a housewarming, so he cancelled with Jen to go. So Jen calls me in a panic to tell me that he'll no longer be at the cinema. So I got Lisa to see if she could stall him. No such luck. Sean was quite determined to go to this housewarming.
In the end I had to call him and tell him that the real reason he couldn't go was cause I was already home and didn't have a key.
Surprise ruined.
Sometimes I think that we're just not fated to surprise each other. Even a simple home cooked meal for each other met with us having the same idea for the same meal on the same day. Needless to say, we ended up with twice the amount of food that night.
I like to think that it's the thought that counts. Maybe we'll get it right one day.
Fingers crossed.
